The National party would have implemented the expansionist intentions of the most productive nation on earth, to be able to outbid New Zealand citizens on a home in the country they live, work and vote in. And own increasing amounts of land and houses in NZ. King Luxon would have overturned the prioritisation of residents buying a home to making NZ houses a global investors market. Removing the bottleneck of domestic GDP on house prices and allowing global money to inflate house prices further making them more unaffordable. All so we don't need to be productive to pay for imports. We just sell residency and land instead. Winston Peters stopped him. We need more patriotic Maori/Scottish politicians like Winston. The Gender pay gap calculation is this, and yes you can check it but this is how Australia calculates it. (I literally saw a pay gap company explain it on TV, and they ever defended it when the interviewer asked the most obvious question but anyway. 🤦‍♂️) Here goes, the Avg salary of ALL males vs Avg salary of ALL females in a company are compared. NOT, the avg salary of all the female accountants vs all the male accountants. ( a child can see the problem, but not a feminist of course, as their maths is different to the rest of us). So they do not compare the same job. This is blatantly wrong and mathematically incorrect, but it's how how it is done. Back to the Gap, it is illegal in Aus and NZ to pay somone in the same role and level a different salary, period. So there is NO pay gap on the same level and experience. This is the Law FFS. They way it gets portrayed is the real lie.

Mike, the entire world is suffering from the unintended consequences of the ‘corporatised DEI competency shortfall’ delivered courtesy of positive discrimination/affirmative action. All incidents/accidents have multi factorial causes, but one factor is self evident from events around the world: by example the bastion of cultural safety culture (the aviation industry aka Boeing), the NZ political scene (Parliamentarians arrested by Police and convicted etc), Western military recruitment target shortfalls, education sector (Harvard President Claudine Gay plagiarist), to the banking sector (Silicon Valley Bank closure a year ago, and the five more banks since). Watch as more extraordinary incidents/accidents occur across the world. This is not a bigoted view, after all competency should be colourblind. This is a first hand experienced world where since 1990, innate characteristics are often valued over people’s demonstrated competency.

Now see if National/ACT/NZF prioritize new capabilities in defense and infrastructure or they just break stuff.

We've become such a 'dumbed down country, largely in the name of Wokism, that's going to be very difficult to turn back the tide. Yep, we are a basket case. Labour set the mess up and the current Govt, despite brave attempts to make good, are floundering in the wake. Our problems however are somewhat systemic and can be traced back to both the Clark and Key Govts. Too busy trying to impress the rest of the world while ignoring our domestic challenges and the people they were voted in to serve, and, it's caught up with us.

Mike, yes we should learn from this and nearly two centuries of cutting corners. Why change a good tradition now? Did you notice the ferry hit the right bank, not the left. Must have been a few of the National Party on board that couldn't see in a straight line. No parking zone also. They had hoped to move the ferry before anyone noticed. When I first heard the news, I thought they might be looking for another propeller at bottom of the Cook Strait. They could have done a fly-over with the 757. Do we know what the final cost will be to the taxpayer for the cancellation of the ferries, including all and the incidentals, potential losses to business, etc, will be.? Anyhow, who cares, only the South Island on the other side of that ditch. Plus who needs rail on the next ferries, (I nearly said new) when National's good mates in the trucking industry have been in their ears telling them, no, not necessary. Roads are up to it with wear and congestion, plus emissions a low priority now. By the way, has the temporary bridge of the Western Viaduct been repaired/replaced. good to see that, because it was temporary, those that be, had anticipated its eventual failure and had planned and costed for the appropriate spare parts, or even planned for a more permanent structure. Obvious, not a big enough tip given to Council from those who benefit the most. Most important though, landlords have been prioritised. Borrowed money, is it? New Zealand's progressive long-term thinking at its best. We show our English heritage so well. I doubt evolution can deal with our particular mutations of stupidity, that easily. We live with luck and hope as our guiding principles. 🤑

Unbolting three at once guarantees it will topple from horizontal stresses, whether wind or the adjacent pylons not being in a dead straight line. So it was DEI workers and grossly incompetent SJW managers all the way up or deliberate sabotage. How about focusing on actual skills and not virtue signaling and getting rid of 90% of the suffocating bureaucracy.

The country will not learn from this, as is addicted to nearly 40 years of 3 yearly neoliberal, 'she will be right' cheap, quick fix, nimby can kicking style of thinking and planning that has created the social, economic and infrastructural mess the country is currently in.
